Long Beach Immigration Specialist Attorney

For Assistance with Consular Process Visas

Consular processing is the process by which an individual may apply for an immigrant visa at a U.S. Consulate in his or her home country. This process begins when an underlying immigrant visa petition becomes approved and an immigrant visa number is made available to the individual. If you need legal assistance with a consular process visa, Long Beach immigration lawyer Angela Novas McGill may be able to assist you.

As a Long Beach immigration specialist lawyer, Ms. McGill has helped immigration clients from around the world and throughout Southern California. She serves the greater Long Beach area, including Bellflower, San Pedro, Torrance, Norwalk, and North Orange County.  Since beginning her practice in 1997, she has focused on immigration law. Certified as an Immigration Specialist in 2005 by the State Bar of California, she can provide extensive knowledge and experience in all immigration matters. She and her staff are fluent in both Spanish and English.

Consular Process Visas

Generally, any foreign national wishing to immigrate to the U.S. in order to live and work here permanently must have been issued lawful permanent resident status. A green card gives an alien this status and may be obtained through consular processing. A consular process visa may be granted to a spouse, parent, son, daughter, or sibling of a U.S. citizen with an approved family-based immigrant visa petition, a spouse or unmarried child of a lawful permanent resident with an approved family-based immigrant visa petition, or foreign nationals with an approved immigrant visa petition filed on their behalf by a U.S. employer. Consular process visas are generally quicker to obtain than other methods with a processing time of five to thirteen months, on average. However, those applying for consular process visas are not allowed to apply for work permits during the process.

Do you need help with a consular process visa? Contact Long Beach immigration lawyer Angela Novas McGill for assistance with your immigration process.
