Parole in Place (PiP)

Parole in Place for Spouses, Children and Parents of Active members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Individuals in the Selected Reserve or Veterans. The decision whether to grant parole is discretionary. The fact that the individual is the spouse, parent or child of an Active Duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces weighs heavily in favor of parole in place. Per US CIS memorandum, absent a significant criminal conviction or other serious adverse factors, parole in place should be granted to such individual. Parole is then granted in one year increments with extensions of parole as appropriate.
